Vanderbilt survived an elimination game in the Tempe regional, defeating Stony Brook 9-4 behind 16 hits and a good performance by starter Mike Minor.
Andrew Giobbi had four hits and drove in three runs to lead the Commodores, who had every batter in the lineup get a hit or score a run.
Minor went eight innings, giving up four runs. Vanderbilt led 9-1 before Minor gave up three in the eighth, but the sophomore closed the inning and allowed no further damage.
Vanderbilt faces the loser of tonight's Oklahoma-Arizona State game tomorrow.
