BASEBALL: Vanderbilt loses first game in Tempe regional

Vanderbilt's quest to get to the College World Series hit a road block in the form of the Oklahoma Sooners.

In the first round of the Tempe Regional, Vanderbilt lost 8-5 as redshirt freshman Caleb Cotham was roughed up for seven runs, five earned, in 5 2/3 innings.

The Commodores cut Oklahoma's five-run lead to two when senior David Macias hit a two-run home run in the seventh but they would get no closer. They fall into the loser's bracket, where it looks like they will be playing Stony Brook tomorrow.
